Maggie Davies’ vibrant and richly textured paintings explore the full possibilities of colour and form. Her paintings range from atmospheric images of rural Wales, its beaches, skies and hills, to her depiction of exotic locations developed from sketches on site, on travel outings in places such as Venice & Florence.
Using pastel, ink and vivid acrylics, her paintings vary from intricately detailed studies to near abstract images. She develops her work methodically through sketches and preliminary studies, placing emphasis on good composition and draftsmanship, as well as looking to explore contemporary styles and materials.
Maggie trained at Cardiff Art College and now shows her work through solo and group exhibitions in Wales. She is a member of Cardiff Drawing Group.
